Visit the Olot Modernist Market Fair and discover the Garrotxa volcanoes from the air.
In Olot, Modernism had a strong influence on urban architecture. The most important architects are, among others, Alfred Paluzie, Josep Azemar, Lluís Domènech i Muntaner and the sculptor Miquel Blay, who left their mark on the facades of the city.
Next April 3, 4 and 5, Olot celebrates the fourth edition of the modernist market in the center of Olot. The streets of the Garrotxina capital will look like the beginning of the 20th century and visitors will walk among curious characters dressed in period clothes .
There will be a series of activities for young and old, related to this artistic movement:
Craft stalls set in the modernist era on Passeig d’en Blay until 8pm, children’s space for modernist discoveries at the Fair, pony rides, volcanic train ride, El Modernisme and Trencadís plastic workshop, Photography corner of the 1920s, free guided tour of Garrotxa Museum , where they can be seen the posters of the Cigarrillos Paris collection, a mapping to the casa Pujador – a visual and sound show titled “Dr. Malèfic & Mr. Light” will be projected ,Xai Be parade and dance in the Plaza Mayor, candy singing…
The vermouth will also take place: many establishments in Olot will offer a vermouth with siphon plus an aperitif for 3.5 euros per person.
The Modernist Fair is another activity of the Olotina Holy Week, which joins the traditional dance of the Xai Be or the trencada de mona in the Plaça Major.
